KEARNEY, NE - A UNK high-jumper is participating in a prestigious even this weekend.
Brayden Sorensen of Kearney will compete in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships Sunday in Eugene, Oregon. The three-time All-American is the first Loper to qualify for this meet since current assistant coach Dane Tobey finished 14th in the shot put at the 2010 meet.
Sorensen was one of 15 to qualify thanks to clearing seven feet and a half inch at Wichita State's invite in April. If he finishes in the top four, he could compete for Team USA at the World Athletics Championships in July.
The men’s high jump starts at 2:25 p.m. and can be viewed at https://www.usatf.tv/
