Nine projects to receive funds via Kearney’s Downtown Rehabilitation Grant Program

Several downtown businesses in Kearney are getting a financial boost thanks to a city grant program.

KEARNEY, NE — Several downtown businesses in Kearney are getting a financial boost thanks to a city grant program.

Eight businesses will get a combined total of $106,750 to assist with nine projects through the Downtown Rehabilitation Grant Program. The program is designed to encourage renovation and preservation efforts for downtown buildings. Property owners could apply to compete for funds to address improvements roof and brick repairs, historic window replacement, fire suppression systems, electrical upgrades, and more.

2022 projects receiving funds include:

$5,000 to Divas at Kearney Floral at 210 W. 21st Street to repair façade damage. 

$20,000 to Smart Yield Inc. & Ray Brown & Associates at 2203 1st Avenue for masonry and façade improvements. 

$20,000 to Olivia’s Salon at 2025 Central Avenue for brick tuck-pointing and historic window/door replacement. 

$5,000 to Printz Properties at 2206 Central Avenue for façade improvements. 

$15,000 to Fanatics at 2021 Central Avenue to make façade and ADA improvements and replace historic windows. 

$15,000 to Fanatics at 2023 Central Avenue to make façade, replace historic windows, and make electrical upgrades. 

$1,750 to Heath Smallcomb (property owner) at 15 W. 23rd Street for EIFS repairs. 

$5,000 to Swanson Murray Law, LLC at 2029 Central Avenue for brick tuck-pointing. 

$20,000 to SevenOne Investments, LLC at 2100 Central Avenue for historic window replacement.
