NORTH PLATTE, NE - The Overton boys golf team used a terrific second round to overcome a big deficit and win the Class D team championship on Wednesday.

North Platte St. Patrick's owned a 23-stroke lead after the first round on Tuesday at Lake Maloney Golf Club but it was the Eagles who fired the best score in round two. Overton shot a 337, four strokes better than Pender and 26 strokes better than North Platte St. Patrick's. The low round was seven strokes better than the team's opening round.

Overton used remarkable balance to win the title. The scores of their top four golfers on both days ranged from 82-88 between the two days. Braden Fleischman was the top golfer for the Eagles, tying for 8th with a +22 over 36 holes.

The Irish registered the top two individual golfers at the event (Teegan Sonneman +5, Connor Hasenauer +7).

This is Overton's first team championship in boys golf.
