KEARNEY, NE — The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating the election of new officers.

The new leaders were elected in April and honored in a badge-pinning ceremony at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. 

Jeremy Feusner takes over as the department’s 27th chief, replacing Jim Tacha who served in the role for seven years. Feusner has 19 years of experience in fire service including time with fire departments in Holdrege and North Platte.

The firefighters’ badges were covered with mourning bands in honor of Don Jobman, who died earlier Tuesday. Jobman served as a volunteer firefighter for 32 years and was a former board president.

Fire Officers: Fire Chief Jeremy Feusner, Battalion Chiefs Dave Krueger and Aaron Jameson, Fire Captains Tyler Vlasin and Max Gintzler, Fire Lieutenants Kyle Smith and Lonny Reeder, and Rescue Lieutenant Chris Hellerich.

Corporate Officers: President Gene Beerbohm, Vice-President Brad Isaac, Secretary Brad Anderson, Treasurer Matthew Ullman, Board of Directors Todd Walton, Bryan Chase and Terry Eirich.
