Former Cambridge fire chief to be laid to rest Friday

Funeral services for a former fire chief killed while responding to the Road 702 Fire have been set for Friday.

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Funeral services for a former fire chief killed while responding to the Road 702 Fire have been set for Friday.

J.P. Trumble will be honored by his southwest Nebraska community.

Trumble was the former fire chief in Cambridge. He was killed Friday when he was overcome by smoke and fire after his vehicle left the road.

He'll be laid to rest Friday afternoon with a ceremony at the Cambridge Public School Gymnasium.
