2,000 acres burned in Custer County wildfire

Several fire departments spent their weekend battling a wildfire in central Nebraska.

BROKEN BOW, Neb. -- Several fire departments spent their weekend battling a wildfire in central Nebraska.

The fire originated near a residence near the Broken Bow and Sargent fire districts.

Those local departments were joined by 10 other towns in mutual aid to battle the blaze.

At one point, about 175 firefighters and EMS workers were joined by three aircraft in battling the fire.

It's estimated that around 2,000 acres were burned. Four houses were threatened, but none were lost.
