LINCOLN, Neb. -- This past Wednesday was the first day back for members of the Nebraska legislature.

Senators were eager to get back to the state capitol to begin a new legislative session.

But one larger topic will seem to be the focus according to Senator Steve Halloran.

"It's a short session, a 60-day session. We're going to be dealing with the American Rescue Plan Act funds," he said. "20 to 30 days of that 60-day session may end up being devoted to purely appropriating and deciding where that money goes."

Senator Halloran mentioned a few different bills that will be introduced by members of the legislature in the upcoming weeks.

"In general terms, I would say there is going to be bills dealing with voter integrity. There will be pro-life bills," he said.

Halloran also said that Senator Lou Ann Linehan will propose a bill for scholarship programs for private schools.

The legislature is set to adjourn on April 20th.
