BEATRICE – A local realty company is being honored by the Beatrice Public School District as a Business Friend of the Month, for October.
John, Craig and Mike Zarybnicky of Homestead Land Company were honored Monday night before the board of education by Superintendent Jason Alexander for their ongoing support of the students and staff in District 15.

"Helping with numerous sporting events...finding homes for new teachers...and helping coach and support our youth programs. They've supported our classrooms, making donations to our schools, t-shirts for various events...and human resources. By that we mean, whenever we need help with something at our school....taking tickets, supervising events, announcing events, whatever the case may be...we know we can call on Homestead Land, to help us."

The company itself is making a $5,000 monetary donation to a project that will upgrade the track surface at the House of Orange, at Beatrice High School. The project was scheduled to be done this past summer, but supply delays have pushed that project back to next summer.

"The key is, that many of our students will use this track...from our youngest students...whether it be an elementary field day...or our oldest students in our competitions that we hold...and sometimes our community for events like cancer walks or other events like that. Homestead Land is making a contribution to help us resurface that track and make it usable for our entire community and school family...and we greatly appreciate that."

John Zarybnicky’s family members have gone through the school system over a 15-year-period and recently have had two grandsons opting into attending school in the district.
