A Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Papillion is six figures further along.

Officials in Papillion, where the Memorial is scheduled to open in 2023, are announcing what they call a “transformative” $ 250,000 gift from Facebook, which will ensure that the 396 Nebraskans who died in Vietnam will be remembered far into the future.

The Memorial will be located just a few miles from the Omaha National Cemetery.

The Memorial is considered an urgent and important act of honor as its estimated that by 2030 half of Nebraska’s Vietnam-era Veterans will have died.

Facebook recently opened a data center in Sarpy County, not far from where the Memorial will be located.
