Peru State men's cross country place fifth at the Wildcat Invite

(Peru, Neb.) – On September 24, the Peru State men's cross country team placed fifth in their third meet of the season in Wayne.
The Wildcat Classic was hosted by Wayne State College at the Wayne Country Club Course. The male runners ran an 8K.
Minot State (N.D.) won the meet by scoring a 28. Wayne State came in second with scoring a 52 and Bellevue placed third with a score of 53. Finishing fourth was Southwest Minnesota State with a total of 85. Peru State came in with a team score of 149 which was good for fifth place.
Freshman Gavin Smith (Omaha) was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line with a time of 32:00.06. Smith finished 36th overall and 27th for scoring purposes.
Freshman Andrew Russell (Alma) finished second for the Bobcats with a 32:29.39.
Freshman Eleme Mayani (Omaha) finished with a time of 33:46.67.
Freshman Jeremy Matuszewski (Bellevue) finished with a time of 34:00.45 while Alan Simpson (Powhattan, Kan.) finished with a time of 34:47.20.
Matthew Ramold (Nebraska City) finished with a 40:28.06 to round out the field for the Bobcats.
Upcoming Meet
The next meet for the Bobcat men's cross country team will be the Briar Cliff Invitational on Friday, Oct. 1, in Sioux City, Iowa. The men's race will begin at 3:45 p.m.
