NORFOLK, Neb. - Thousands of people will be celebrating in northeast Nebraska this weekend.

Norfolk's 10th annual Oktoberfest is back after it was canceled due to COVID-19 last year.

Norfolk Chamber of Commerce President Austen Hagood said it's one of the largest events in the area.

"There's already a buzz going on that it's happening again," said Hagood. "So we've had a lot of great social media traffic, had a lot of phone calls. All the sponsors have been great. Everybody jumped back in and said let's do it twice as big. So there's been a lot of support and I think this is going to be a record-setting year for us."

The two-day family festival honors Norfolk's German heritage.

Activities include dozens of German beers on tap, a wine garden, food vendors, and live music.

There will be a cornhole tournament, a stein-holding competition, polka tunes.

And the new year does come with a new brew: the Bank First Brew.
