COLUMBUS, Neb. -- The Columbus community celebrated the ribbon-cutting for Nelnet's new location in the Platte Valley.

Helping the city celebrate the Wednesday event was Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts.

The new location will be housed at 3614 23rd Street next to Bomgaars. It will serve as a call center for the company's student loan servicing business.

A Nebraska company, Nelnet also provides technology and operational support and answers phones for businesses and government entities.

Nelnet, which has its headquarters in Lincoln, has 7,000 associates across the country. ALLO Communications, which is a Nelnet entity, provides internet, TV and phone services. ALLO announced earlier this month that it will expand to Columbus this fall.
