Mimosa Fest coming to downtown Norfolk

NORFOLK, Neb. - A new event in northeast Nebraska is encouraging people to visit the downtown area. 

District Table and Tap is hosting Mimosa Fest on June 12. 

"It's a celebration of community togetherness," said Andrew McCarthy, District Table and Tap owner. "Obviously 2020 we were shut down. We didn't get a chance to have a lot of festivals, a lot of fun around here, so we're trying to think of an event that would bring everyone together."

McCarthy said he worked with the city administration, the Downtown Norfolk Association, and the Visitor's Bureau to get the event planned.

The strip from 2nd st. to 3rd st. will be closed off during the Mimosa Fest. People are invited to bring lawn chairs, but tables will also be available. 

There will be live music from at least four local Nebraska bands. Other activities include axe-throwing, caricature drawings, food trucks, and the farmer's market. 

District Table and Tap will be offering 10-to-20 different mimosa flavors. Wristbands for bottomless mimosas are $25, and $5 from that, will be donated to St. Jude.
