CEDAR COUNTY - Two people are dead after a car accident in Cedar County over the weekend.

The Cedar County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened Saturday night on Highway 81 near mile marker 209, south of Yankton.

Authorities say 64-year-old Elizabeth Braunesreither of Mission Hill, S.D. and 30-year-old Samantha Plantenberg of Crofton were involved in a head-on crash.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old was also injured in the accident.

The Sheriff's Office says all drivers were using seatbelts.

The accident remains under investigation.
