LINCOLN, Neb. -- For the first time since December of 2019, in-person graduation ceremonies are happening across the state.

Unlike the class of 2020, this year's college students are able to receive their diplomas in person.

UNO, UNK and UNL combined are graduating over 5,000 students this spring.

Due to COVID-19, the in-person ceremonies come with some safety measures. All three schools are requiring everyone to wear face masks.

UNL and UNO have divided the undergrads into two groups with separate ceremonies to maintain proper social distancing.

Also, UNL required all participants to test negative for COVID-19 a few days prior to the event.

Nebraska's state colleges are also honoring their graduates this weekend. Chadron State, Wayne State and Peru State are holding a variety of ceremonies, including some to honor last year's classes that were unable to be honored in person.
