SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - With several bridges in Scotts Bluff County in need of repair the Scotts Bluff County Commission votes unanimously to move forward using concrete deck slabs to improve three bridges.

“They will start making these probably within a month and we hope to start to put them on starting in June,” said Linda Grummert Scotts Bluff County Highway Superintendent. “They have to cure for twenty one days it will twenty one days in between each set so there is three bridges.”

The cost for the repairs ranges from $30,000 to $80,000. Funding for the projects comes from the state and county through a grant application. The repairs will allow the bridges to bear more weight.

“Scotts Bluff County has two hundred twenty three this is very important that we try to address the bridges that fall in that range of functionally obsolete, structurally deficient, fracture critical,” said Grummert. “Those structures with low tonnage right at forty of those and it’s very important that we start to get down through that list.”
