NORFOLK, Neb. - Over a quarter of a million dollars was raised in northeast Nebraska in just two days.

The St. Jude Country Cares Radiothon on US-92 in Norfolk raised $261,427 for children battling cancer.

All the proceeds are going to help cover expenses for kids fighting for their lives at St. Jude.

Marissa Meyer has been working with St. Jude radiothons for over 20 years.

"I can't imagine not doing this every year in memory of my daughter," Meyer said. "She fought hard, I want to fight hard."

Although the pandemic hasn't made things any easier this year, US-92 Morning Show host and Program Director Jim Mackey says:

"The thing is, cancer doesn't know there's a pandemic going on," Mackey said. "Cancer doesn't stop for those kids at St. Jude."

Just because the Radiothon has ended, Mackey encourages people to keep supporting because there's a bigger goal to be reached.

"Let's get more partners in hope and let's find a cure for cancer ad let's lock the doors to St. Jude," he said. "Because when they do, that means that no child will ever die of cancer ever again, and that's the goal."
