Warner played in all eight games in 2020 while serving as an offensive captain. He caught five passes for 40 yards in the coronavirus-shortened season. For his career in Lincoln, the wide receiver from Arizona finished with 30 catches for 236 (7.9 per reception). Warner has up to two seasons of eligibility remaining because of the extra year granted to all players due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Three Huskers enter transfer portal
Kade Warner, Will Farniok and Luke McCaffrey have announced their intentions to leave the Husker football program.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Three Nebraska football players have entered the transfer portal Tuesday, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. Kade Warner, Will Farniok and Luke McCaffrey were the latest from the Huskers' squad to declare their intentions to leave the program.
Farniok, a reserve offensive lineman from South Dakota who backed up Beatrice native Cam Jurgens at center, also entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. He follows his older brother Matt out of the program. Matt, a senior, could have played one more year with the program due to the extra year of eligibility granted to all players this season, elected to enter the 2021 NFL Draft instead.
McCaffrey, a redshirt freshman from Colorado who started two games at quarterback in place of then-struggling Adrian Martinez, leaves after playing 11 games in his two-year career with the Huskers. He rushed for 530 yards in his career, including 364 this season. He completed 57 of 88 passes for 608 yards with three touchdowns and six interceptions.
