The entire state of Nebraska is currently experiencing drought conditions. It's the first time in nearly eight years that 100 percent of the state is in a drought.

The last time was at the end of April 2013, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

While this year's drought is nowhere near as severe as it was back then, extreme drought still affects roughly 25 percent of Nebraska.

The good news is that winter typically doesn't drive drought, according to experts.

Officials say rain in the spring and summer months will be crucial.
