BEATRICE - Improvement had been seen in the past week regarding coronavirus trends in a five-county public health district.

Public Health Solutions officials note that all by one county saw a decrease in positive test cases and most saw a decline in the percentage of positive test cases.

The health district covers Gage, Jefferson, Saline, Fillmore and Thayer Counties.

PHS officials say risk dials for the district moved into the orange zone this week as hospital utilization for Covid-cases and total case counts trended downward.

Public Health Solutions reports there have still been significant virus outbreaks at long-term care facilities within the district.  A total of 27 persons were hospitalized with Covid-like illness the past week and the district received reports of two confirmed Covid-related deaths.
