Holdrege becomes 20th Nebraska city to approve mask mandate

Holdrege became the westernmost Nebraska city to pass a mask mandate.

HOLDREGE, Neb. - Holdrege became the westernmost Nebraska city to pass a mask mandate, doing so on a 6-2 vote by the Holdrege City Council. 

The Holdrege Board of Health had previously recommended the measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Nearly two hours of public debate preceded the council’s vote.

The mandate takes effect Thursday and lasts through February 23rd. Violations will carry a $25 fine. 

Holdrege is now the 20th Nebraska city to enact a mask ordinance. The full list of Nebraska communities enforcing mask mandates:
