Fire fighters quickly extinguish garage fire in Sidney

The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to reported garage fire at 514 Beverly Drive in Sidney on Sunday morning.

SIDNEY - A discarded cigarette is being blamed for a garage fire in Sidney on Sunday morning.

20 fire fighters from the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to reported fire at 514 Beverly Drive at 10:26 a.m. 

Assistant Fire Chief Mathew Butts says the fire began on the outside of the detached garage and began working its way inside. Fire fighters were able to enter the structure and extinguish the blaze in nine minutes.

There were no occupants home at the time of the fire.
