BEATRICE – Gage County Veterans Service Officer Phil Dittbrenner will be leaving his job, at the end of this month.

The board of supervisors formally accepted his resignation at Wednesday’s supervisors meeting.

Dittbrenner has served as the county’s Veteran’s Service Officer for 17 years. Before that, he was with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years.

Dittbrenner says he’ll miss working with the local men and women who have served their nation.  He says he and his wife are exploring taking over a business in Beatrice.  A Veteran himself, Dittbrenner served in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1986….reaching the rank of Senior Airman.

Applications for the position are being accepted through Thursday, and a Veterans Service Committee will conduct interviews of applicants.
