The National Weather Service in Omaha and Valley has issued an alert for extreme fire danger today in southeast Nebraska and far southwest Iowa. The alert runs from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The organization says that any fires that develop will spread rapidly with winds expected to reach up to 45 mph and low humidity. The warning also states that the most dangerous spots will be in areas with dry grasses or dry cropland.
