DENVER (AP) — Colorado's U.S. Senate candidates are facing off in a Spanish-language debate.

The debate on Denver's Telemundo station was taped in English on Sunday and translated into Spanish for viewers on Tuesday. It was the second confrontation between Republican Sen. Cory Gardner and his Democratic challenger, former Colorado Gov John Hickenlooper.

Gardner continued a strategy he first deployed during Friday's initial debate. He briskly attacked Hickenlooper on immigration and energy while trying to position himself as a bipartisan problem-solver.

Hickenlooper tried to tie Gardner to President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, which is increasingly unpopular in Colorado.
