Active cases in Panhandle slightly up Thursday

Panhandle Public Health officials released the latest COVID-19 numbers for the region during a briefing Thursday afternoon.

Panhandle Public Health officials released the latest COVID-19 numbers for the region during a briefing Thursday afternoon. 

In all, officials announced 38 new cases and 28 new recoveries. 

Of the new cases, 11 are from Scotts Bluff County. Box Butte and Sheridan Counties each have nine new cases. There are four new cases in Cheyenne County. Morrill and Dawes Counties each have two new cases. 

Grant County had its first case also announced during the briefing. All of the counties in PPHD's district have now had at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. 

Of the recoveries, 12 are from Scotts Bluff County. Box Butte County has six new recoveries while Dawes County has four. Three people in Sheridan County are recovered as are two from Cheyenne County. There is one new recovery in Morrill County. 

Health officials announced the eighth death related to COVID-19 on Wednesday.
