BEATRICE - The park land around the Nichols Park Bandstand recently got an upgrade, thanks to a generous donation from a local foundation.

The project was entirely funded by a grant from the Thomas Foundation , providing a concrete parking area with an ADA-Compliant Handicapped parking stall.

The City of Beatrice applied for grant funding jointly with the Beatrice Civic Garden Club, in an effort to make parking easier and encourage more visits to Nichols Park.

The Civic Garden Club will also be providing and installing new benches, informational pedestals, plant identification tags, and Christmas decorations to the Bandstand area.

Next Year, the bandstand will be 100 years old, constructed in 1921.  It's located along the north side of Court Street, just west of the Big Blue River Bridge.
