(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State football coaching staff recently announced the signing of Javon Stephens of Gibsonton, Fla. Stephens recently graduated from Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, Fla.
 
The son of Estella Roberts will be a wide receiver for the Bobcats.
 
The 5-10, 152-pound Stephens played in 12 games his senior year where he totaled 628 all-purpose yards with five touchdowns. Stephens averaged 12 yards on each punt return and 19 on kickoff returns. He was selected to play in the Hillsborough County Senior All-Star game.

Seven Bloomingdale teammates signed to play college football. In an earlier press release from Osprey Observer, Stephens stated this about his signing, "It felt amazing knowing that I'm the first in my family to go to college. I can't wait for next season, I'm ready to work."
 
Stephens will major in business while at Peru State.
 
The Peru State football team moved onto campus on August 10 and began conditioning the next day. The Bobcats began practice on Saturday, August 15.
 
Peru State's first contest is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 when they travel to Atchison, Kan., to take on Benedictine.
