CENTRAL CITY - Car enthusiasts brought their babies to the State Theater’s 6th annual motorcycle and car show this Sunday. Lori McIntire brought her 1973 Dodge Challenger, painted in a one-of-a-kind pink panther color. It was inspired by a toy she had as a child.

“The little car was mine when I was a little girl, and we had it rebuilt to look like my big car,” Lori McIntire said.

Lori put her love, sweat and tears into this car by customizing it to her liking. When she was a kid, she wanted one of her own. Now Lori does, and she enjoys seeing people’s faces in awe of her sweet ride.

“Makes me happy inside especially when they come up and get a big grin on their face looking at it,” she said.

Car lovers from the area came to see Lori’s and other vehicles at the show. The cars were all shapes and sizes, colors, and models. Each of the vehicles had a sign describing the name and year it was made.

“Really pleased by how many people were able to come out, and find out about the show,” Josh Hood, organizer of the motorcycle and car show, said.

The car show is also a fundraiser and competition. Half of the money from registration fees and donations go to the theater’s expenses and upgrades, the other half goes to the winner of the show. People vote on the car they like best and the winner also gets a trophy.

“We have some wonderful donors that basically donate money for the trophies, all our cost and expenses,” Hood said.

The car show was from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Voting ended at 2 p.m. and the winner was declared shortly after.
