Rescue teams locate missing teens on Lake Minatare

Two teenagers were found safe Monday night after officials found their pontoon tied to trees in a flooded portion of Boy Scout Island on Lake Minatare.

MINATARE - Two teenagers were found safe Monday night after officials found their pontoon tied to trees in a flooded portion of Boy Scout Island on Lake Minatare. The area was experiencing high winds and heavy rain at the time they were reported missing at 10:15 p.m. 

The two teens were missing for five hours and it took the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Minatare-Melbeta Fire Department and Gering and Scottsbluff Fire Departments 30 minutes to locate the pair. 

There were no reports of the boat having any issues.
