Murder suspect appears in Lincoln County Court

A North Platte man has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of 25-year-old Brett Allen Torres.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. KNOP-TV A North Platte man has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of 25-year-old Brett Allen Torres.

On Tuesday, 43-year-old Keith L. Allen was arraigned in Lincoln County Court.

According to a statement by the North Platte Police Department, law enforcement was called to the 100 block of North Chestnut Street Friday.

Authorities found Torres unresponsive inside his vehicle, which was parked in the alley. He was transported to Great Plains Health by ambulance.

According to police, Torres was shot several times with a.45 caliber handgun.

Allen is being charged with first-degree murder, which is a Class 1A Felony and is punishable to life in prison.

He's also charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony, which is a Class 1C Felony and carries a sentence of five to 50 years in prison.

Allen is being held without bond in the Lincoln County Detention Center.

His preliminary hearing is set June 4th at 11 a.m..
