Kimball to hold modified Memorial Day ceremony, playground equipment to reopen

Kimball will hold a modified version of its annual Memorial Day ceremony due to COVID-19. 

Mayor Keith Prunty said at the Kimball city council meeting Tuesday night that people who attend the ceremony at the Kimball Cemetery will be asked to stay in their cars. 

This is to help maintain social distancing and to better abide by the group of 10 rule for public gatherings. Prunty said certain event participants and honor guard. 

Prunty also announced at the meeting the playground equipment at city parks will be reopening. Bathrooms and basketball courts will remain closed for now. 

Prunty said the decision was made after talking with health officials at Panhandle Public Health District. No specific date of the reopening was given at the meeting.
