Fire Breaks Out in East Beatrice Apartment Building

BEATRICE – Beatrice Firefighters were called to the intersection of 13th and Court Monday morning…a fire in an apartment building at the southwest corner of the intersection.

Firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from the upper floor or the building, when arriving just before 5:15 a.m.  The flames were knocked down in about 20 minutes.

There were no reported injuries.   Fire Captain Craig Fisher says there was extensive damage to the upper floor apartment, estimated at $35,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents.  The building contains three apartments. 

A state fire investigator was summoned to help examine the cause.  Red Cross officials were assisting the occupants affected by the fire.
