The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Cheyenne County. The advisory will expire at 9:00 p.m. MDT Friday.

The NWS says heavy rains from thunderstorms can cause urban and small stream flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Sidney, Potter, Lodgepole, Sidney Airport, Brownson, Lorenzo, Colton and Sunol.

The NWS is reminding drivers to turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
