Orthopedic Surgeons Release Recommendations for Joint Replacement Patients

News release:
(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Columbus Community Hospital and Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic have suspended elective surgeries, such as hip and knee replacements. The announcement was made in March in an effort to slow the spread of the virus and ensure proper hospital staff and resources are available to care for patients affected by COVID-19.
As concerns surrounding COVID-19 continue, surgeons at Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic continue to consult with patients who have immediate or post-operative needs, using telemedicine when possible.
At the same time, surgeons are also mindful of those people who are currently in limbo as they wait for elective surgeries to resume, along with patients who are recovering at home from recent procedures.
That’s why local surgeons have released recommendations for any joint replacement patient who was impacted by COVID-19. These recommendations (attached), along with additional resources for patients can be found by visiting: https://www.columbushosp.org/our_clinics/columbus_orthopedic_sports_medicine_clinic/joint_care_during_covid-19.aspx
