Central district health department says it will start tracking those who have recovered
During the community update Monday, Mayor Steele read a statement from the Central District Health Department.
GRAND ISLAND - The city of Grand Island provided a community update Monday.
Reading a statement from Central District Health Department health director Teresa Anderson, Mayor Roger Steele said health officials will now call people they've already tested for the coronavirus in order to track the number of those who have recovered.
The health department said it is giving more personal protective equipment (PPE) to long-term care facilities right now.
“Because we have a number of long-term care facilities where the COVID virus has been identified, we see a greater percentage of PPE going to these facilities," Steele said. "At this time, there is sufficient amount of PPE available."
Despite changes to the state's Directed Health Measure, the health department asks dentists to stay closed for two more weeks.
Health officials said parks will start reopening in the next few days, but still exclude organized activities.
