GRAND ISLAND - Plenty of businesses have taken a hit because of the pandemic.

However, one flower shop in Grand Island said even though the season started out slow, more folks have been coming in lately.

Williams Flower Company and Greenhouse said it has seen an uptick in orders for flowers and plants.

"People can’t go out to the restaurants, they can’t go out and have a nice dinner anywhere," manager Thad Nobles said.  "So there’s a lot more people ordering things for people just because they can’t go and do that stuff."

They don't expect it to be any different for Mother's Day.

“We’re actually planning on Mother’s Day being as busy as last year or a little bit busier just because everybody really feels like they need a breath of fresh air," Nobles said.

He said everyone feels like life is kind of gray right now and that the flowers brighten people's moods.
