FAIRBURY - The city of Fairbury has added an LB840 Initiative designed to assist their local businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions.  The goal of the program called the Gift Card Multiplier is to stimulate retail sales and generate funding for non-profit organizations as a bridge for businesses.

The City of Fairbury will match dollar for dollar the value of any gift card or certificate purchased from a City retail or service establishment.  For example a$50 gift card purchase would not only give that business $50 in revenue but the city would then give that business an additional $50 using LB840 funds.

Laura Bedlan with the City of Fairbury says "What I really like about this program from an economic perspective is that the gift card is used to purchase things that generate LB840 taxes, so those taxes go directly back in to the LB840 program, that is supporting this gift card program.  So it's just a nice big circle"
