President Trump: Frankly I don’t care who I run against.

When it comes to Presidential politics Democrats Ann Ashford, Kara Eastman and Gladys Harrison, Omaha’s three congressional hopefuls are, to say the least, keeping their options open.

NCN: Who do you favor in the Democratic Presidential race right now?

Gladys Harrison: I don’t favor anybody.

NCN: Do you favor any one candidate?

Ashford: Any one? No. There are three that vie for my top spot: Vice-President Biden, Senator Klobuchar and Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

NCN: In that order?

Ashford: No, I go back and forth.

(Late Sunday, following our interview with Ashford, Buttigieg dropped out of the race).

Eastman would not go on camera her campaign telling News Channel Nebraska she’s “Not endorsing any specific candidate” and “Will support…the Democratic nominee.”

So, one of the three did name former Vice President Joe Biden, by name.

Biden: We won and we won big because of you.

Biden notching a key week-end win in South Carolina over presumed front runner Senator Bernie Sanders who was a distant second.

Sanders: There are lots of states; you can’t win ‘em all.

Rahm Emmanuel: I’m a friend of Senator Sanders I don’t like the politics, I think it will lead to an electoral defeat.

An up and down the ticket defeat, according to Sander’s rivals.

Klobuchar: The moderator asked, I think it was Stephanopoulos, does anyone have a problem with a socialist heading up the ticket, I was the only one who raised my hand.

Biden: It’s not just can you beat Donald Trump, can you bring along, can you keep a Democratic House of Representatives in the United States Congress, and can you bring along a Democratic Senate. Can you help people up and down the line.

Klobuchar:  I want to have someone heading up this ticket who is going to bring someone with her.

NCN: How concerned are you that if Senator Sanders gets the nomination the Democratic Party is in deep, deep trouble in November?

Ashford: Deep, deep trouble I don’t know. What we would have then is two people at the top of either ticket who are polarizing figures between President Trump and Senator Sanders each are equally polarizing for different reasons, doesn’t make them bad people.

Harrison: Can’t say I’m concerned about that however what I do believe is that the best candidate to represent the Democrats and beat Donald Trump is one who is going to be about bringing people together.

NCN: If Senator Sanders gets the nomination can you support him in November?

Ashford: I will support the eventual nominee of the Democratic Party, I just don’t think it’s going to be Senator Sanders.

Sanders obviously disagrees.

Sanders: No campaign has a grass roots movement like we do, which is another reason why we’re going to win this election.
