GERING - Box Butte County Public Defender Jon Worthman was formally arraigned Friday afternoon in Scotts Bluff County Court on a felony count of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Bond was continued and his preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb 21.

The 52-year-old was arrested earlier this month following an investigation and undercover drug sale by the WING Drug Task Force.

Worthman allegedly purchased about an ounce of cocaine from a cooperating individual and was arrested after the purchased drugs were found inside his vehicle.

Investigators say that in a subsequent interview, Worthman admitted he was buying cocaine, used the drug himself, and had exchanged legal services for cocaine in the past.
