BEATRICE – Veterans, their families, guests and students remembered the nations Veterans in a music-filled ceremony Monday morning, at the Beatrice High School Hevelone Center.
High School Principal Jason Sutter says a special part of this year’s ceremony was the introduction by two current students, of U.S. Service songs played by the Beatrice High School Band.

"Eric Holloway and Camden Parde...two current Beatrice High School Seniors who completed their Army basic training, last summer".

Giving the Veterans Day address was U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Kimberly Olivier, the Deputy Airfield Manager at Offutt Air Force Base. She said during times of peace war, all veterans have paid a price, including many who returned home suffering from physical and psychological wounds.
"Please let them know how appreciative and thankful we are for what they have done in securing our freedom. We stand free today, because of their sacrifices. And then...there are those who did not return home. Those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that our nation enjoys. Their sacrifice should never be forgotten, nor should their gold star families they left behind".

Olivier says Americans honor the courage of the men and women who served in the armed forces, including the ongoing fight against terrorism. She said the nation is fortunate to have service members who exemplify commitment, displaying valor under fire and favor humility over glory.
Olivier said, "this notion of selflessness and sacrifice, the likes of which our exhibited each and every day by soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, is the bedrock of an all-volunteer force".

The majority of veterans honored today no longer wear a military uniform. Olivier said they are members of our communities. She said they continue to provide support for our service men and women.
The Air Force Sergeant said families of veterans must also be honored, for their sacrifices.
