Gering Fire Unit Sent to California to Fight Wildfires

Several Nebraska panhandle firefighters are traveling to California to help fight the ongoing wildfires.

GERING - Nebraska panhandle firefighters are traveling to California to help fight the ongoing wildfires.

According to a post from the Gering Fire Department on Sunday, one fire engine and 3 firefighters are on their way to Santa Rosa, California to assist with the Kincade fire.

The fire department says in the post that they will keep the public updated on their progress.

As of Tuesday, the Kincade Fire has spread to more than 75,000 acres and destroyed an estimated 124 structures.
