COLUMBUS - Starting next week, Columbus will be hosting the Girls' Class B Golf Championship.

Hosts say you don't want to miss out on it.

“These girls are very talented," said Deb Loseke, director of the Columbus/Platte County Convention and Visitor's Bureau.  "I’m a golfer myself and they put my game to shame.”

It happens on Monday and Tuesday and the Elk's Country Club.  This will be the 10th year Columbus has hosted state golf.

But the Columbus Golf Committee said they need more volunteers to help run things, like serving as scorers hosts and spotters.

“It’s those people — those volunteers — that we have that are willing to come out there and stand along those holes and spot those balls for us, locate them so that those girls don’t have to spend time looking for them," co-chair Al Niedbalski said.  "And that keeps things moving.”

They said you do not need to know anything about golf to volunteer and that they'll even take you if you show up on Monday.  But if you want to call and register, you can contact them at (402) 564-2769 or (402) 564-3258.
