Update: One Dead in Fatal HWY 35 Crash

Authorities have provided more information about a two-vehicle accident on Highway 35 Monday night.

WINSIDE - Authorities have provided more information about a two-vehicle accident on Highway 35 Monday night.

According to The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 9 p.m., five miles south of Winside.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by Brody Vrooman hit a tractor driven by Jeffrey Aschoff.

The impact caused the vehicle to roll into the ditch.

The vehicle’s passenger, Andrew Redwing, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Vrooman was transported by LifeNet helicopter to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of his injuries... Aschoff was not seriously injured.

Lack of seatbelt usage is considered a factor in the accident.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Winside Fire and Rescue, the Hoskins/Woodland Park Rescue, The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.

The collision remains under investigation.
