Three Beatrice Firefighters received their service badges on Friday, officially becoming full time members of the department that serves the community and surrounding area.

Dylan Wenz, Jacob Miller and Anthony Brockman have completed their probationary period with the department and had family members pin their badges to their uniforms. A formal ceremony for family and friends was held at the fire department Friday afternoon.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Daake said the ceremony symbolizes the commitment of Beatrice Fire and Rescue, to make a difference every day in the community.
Daake said as a firefighter, “none of us know what we’re going to face, from call-to-call”.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue operates on three shifts and provides fire protection, EMS and Paramedic-level services.
The department will be getting a new home, this next year, as the new Beatrice Fire and Rescue Headquarters will be built on property being acquired by the city, south of the downtown area along U.S. Highway 77.
