305 Acres Successfully Prescribed Burned in the Collons Allotment

More than 300 acres of land were successfully burned south Chadron as part of a planned prescribed burn beginning last Thursday.

CHADRON - More than 300 acres of land were successfully burned south Chadron as part of a planned prescribed burn beginning last Thursday.

According to Nebraska Forest and Grasslands, 305 acres were prescribed burned in the Collons Allotment 7 miles southeast of Chadron.

Officials say 45 personnel on scene from the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Nebraska Forest Service and the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department helped in the burn.

The Forest Service says controlled and prescribed burns are beneficial to maintaining a healthy wildlife habitat.
