A back-and-forth slugfest between Omaha and New Orleans was decided by Brett Phillips’ speed.

The outfielder stole second base after a walk, advanced to third on an errant throw by the catcher then scored the deciding run in an 11-10 walk-off win for the Storm Chasers at Werner Park.

Phillips, racing home on a sacrifice fly by Jecksson Flores, just beat right fielder Gabriel Guerrero’s throw to the plate with head-first slide to bring an end to a wild affair Wednesday night.

The teams combined for 21 runs and 32 hits. There were eight home runs, four of which traveled 400 feet or farther. And 12 players posted multihit efforts in the third game of a four-game series.

Omaha first baseman Ryan O’Hearn went deep twice, driving in three runs on a three-hit night. He narrowly missed a third homer twice in his final at-bat, slicing a fly ball foul before doubling off the outfield wall.

The Baby Cakes scored in each of the first four innings and held a 4-0 advantage after Wilkin Castillo and Guerrero hit back-to-back homers off Jake Kalish in the second. Phillips launched a three-run blast in the second to get the Omaha offense going. The Chasers then scored four in the third.

Kyle Zimmer (2-3) got the win after blowing a save opportunity. Jeff Bingham (0-1) took the loss for the Baby Cakes, who may have gotten Phillips at second had catcher Castillo’s throw been accurate.
