K9 Detects Pills Over Car Freshener Odor
Charges linked to medicines for attention deficit disorder and opiod dependence
TECUMSEH – A Stella man is charged in Johnson County for illegal possession of prescription medicines after a K9-signaled search.
Timothy Barber, 31, is charged with possession of medicines to treat attention deficit disorder and opiod dependence on April 26. He told officers the medicine is for family members and others, who have prescriptions.
Court records say a sheriff’s deputy stopped Barber’s pickup truck after he backed out of a parking stall near the Johnson County Hospital at Tecumseh and went through a stop sign with only his parking lights.
The deputy said she noticed a strong odor of car freshener when she approached the pickup. An arrest affidavit says the K9 Norra signaled to controlled substances inside the truck and a search was conducted.
Two pills and Suboxone film were found.
