BEATRICE - The 158 graduates at Beatrice High School are on to the next chapters in their lives. Commencement was held at the BHS O-Zone on Sunday.
Parents, siblings, grandparents and friends watched as the seniors received their diplomas from Board of Education President Jon Zimmerman and Superintendent Jason Alexander.
Beatrice High School Principal Jason Sutter said it's been gratifying to see the class move through their high school years.

Sutter said the class has had success in fine arts, athletics, clubs and community service.

Both Benson and Sutter remembered two students of the class of 2019 who earlier passed away….Shelby Erb and Jackson Trusty.
Principal Sutter urged the students not to "rush the future".

In this year's graduating class, about 50 percent of the class earned scholarships or financial aid totaling over $1.2 million. Nearly two-thirds of the class took part in athletics, clubs or other activities. Sixty-seven students in the class earned college-level credit during high school, earning over eleven-hundred hours of college credit.
The nine co-valedictorians of the class…with perfect 4.0 grade point averages throughout high school, are Cole Crandall, Kayla Gaertig, McKenzie Osborne, Steven Powers, Hannah Rinne, Calvin Shuck, Alexis Thavenet, Evan Witulski and Madison Witulski.
