Key sections of Interstates in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area opened Wednesday, after being closed due to flooding.
Interstate 680 and a short stretch of I-29 on the northern edge of Council Bluffs reopened at 3 p.m.
The highways had been closed since late May due to flooding. It was the second time this year that flooding closed the two stretches of Interstate.
The I-680 opening means that there's now another open bridge across the Missouri River between Nebraska and Iowa.
The I-29 opening is from Council Bluffs at North 25th Street north to I-680 near Crescent.
Significant closures of Interstate 29 to the north and south of Omaha remain in effect, however. North of I-680, I-29 remains closed. South of Glenwood, I-29 remains closed.
Highway 2, from the Nebraska City bridge to I-29, is still closed.
